How much does it cost?
Prices vary slightly depending on which venue you are booking for. All prices are shown on the booking page for your selected session.
What is included in a session?
We supply everything you need for a session (please see our dress code). During your 2 hour session you will receive one-on-one coaching from our axe throwing pros, time for some target practice then a bunch of games/matches in a double elimination tournament to find the axe throwing champ of your group. All sessions are fully supervised by our axe throwing pros who will be there to help you every step of the way.
Can I book a session for less than 8 people?
Yes you can, we have sessions available where you can book in for smaller groups or even on your own. Check out more details and session times here. Want to book in as a pair? You can do that here.
Can I come and try it out by myself?
Yes you can, check out the question above (bookings essential).
Is there an age limit?
YES, Normally participants must be 18 years of over. However teenagers 15 and up may participate with parent or guardian supervision throughout the session. The parent or guardian must sign a waiver on behalf of the adolescent prior to participation.
What do I wear?
Closed-toe shoes are a must. Besides that, you can wear whatever you like as long as you're able to throw an axe in it.
What shoes do I wear?
You must wear closed-toe shoes when throwing axes. Thongs and sandals are not permitted. High heels are not recommended.
What are your hours?
Check out our specfic location pages for our hours. Keep in mind we are only open for booked events so if you're thinking of dropping in to check out our venue (which you are more than welcome to do), make sure you email us and check that staff will be in attendance.

Is there parking?
SYDNEY - Yes, there is some parking available onsite at Precinct 75. Enter off Edith Street into Precinct 75.
MELBOURNE - Yes, there is ample street parking in the area.
BRISBANE - No, not on site. There is timed parking surrounding the venue otherwise save your gas and the world and catch a bus, train or uber!
PERTH - No, not on site. There is timed parking in the surrounding streets.
Do you do group events?
Yes, That's what we do! Group events can be booked for groups of 8 people or more (we can do less than 8, but you will need to pay for the 8 minimum). Group events can be booked 7 days a week with numerous time slots available from 10am-10pm.
Do you serve food?
We have soft drinks, water, chocolate and packets of chips available for purchase at the venue only. We are not a catered venue. We do not permit BYO food or drinks in our venues (with the exception of a birthday cake).
Do you serve alcohol/can I bring alcohol?
BRISBANE - We have a licence to serve alcohol. Limit to 3 drinks per person whilst at the venue. we have craft beer and cider available. No BYO alcohol permitted.
MELBOURNE - We have a licence to serve alcohol. Patrons are not permitted to consume alcohol until they have finished axe throwing. No BYO alcohol permitted.
SYDNEY & PERTH - Alcohol is not permitted on the premises. As per our alcohol policy here, you must not attend your session under the influence of alcohol, no matter which venue you are attending.
Is it co-ed?
Yes! Girls and guys are equally awesome at throwing axes. One of our axe throwing pros weighs in at barely 40kg and she is an awesome shot! It's technique that will make you a winner, not strength.
Will someone teach me how to throw an axe?
Yes! We have expert axe throwers to coach you throughout your session. Every axe throwing session begins with coaching to get you feeling confident before you battle it out against your mates (with our coaches watching every throw to help you hone your new found skills).
Do you accept credit card/EFTPOS?
Yes, we accept Visa, MasterCard and debit at the venue. Cash and AMEX are not accepted at the venue.
Can I bring my child?
Yes, children are welcome to come as a spectator, however they must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
Is the axe heavy?
Our regular competition axes weigh about 1.3kg and are made of raw steel. Most people don’t consider the axe to be very heavy. You may throw the axe with 1 hand or 2 hands, whichever feels most comfortable for you. Our coaches will help you find the technique that works best for you.
Can I throw axes if I’m pregnant?
Yes, however, just like any extreme sport, we highly recommend you seek your doctor's advice prior to participating.
Can I get there by public transit?
SYDNEY - Yes, MANIAX Sydney is less than 10 minutes walk from Sydenham Train Station (750m) or an 11 minute walk from St Peters station (900m). Enter our venue via Edith Street or Mary Street entrances.
MELBOURNE - Yes, MANIAX Melbourne is located just 200 metres from Collingwood Train Station and numerous bus and tram lines on Hoddle Street and Alexander Parade. Enter off either Henry or Russell Street (between Gipps and Langridge Streets).
BRISBANE - Yes, MANIAX Brisbane is located just a quick 15 minute walk from Bowen Hills or Fortitude Valley Train stations, 8 minutes walk from the bus stops on Wickham Street or Ann Street and only 5 minutes walk from the James Street Precinct in the Valley or the Gasworks Precinct, Newstead.
PERTH - Yes, MANIAX Perth is located just a 15 minute walk from Perth Train Station with various bus stops surrounding our venue.
Can I bring my own axe?
No, council restrictions prohibit us from allowing you to bring your own axe - all axes are supplied by us. Besides, we've thrown just about every axe we could find and have found the best axes suited to throwing.
Do you sell MANIAX merchandise?
Yes. we have stubby coolers, hats, t-shirts, singlets, hoodies, keyrings and axes all available for purchase at the venue.
Are spectators allowed?
Private events - if you would like to bring spectators to a private event, you must email us in advance to check availability. It's free but we do have limits on occupancy in the venue and we need to make sure we have space for onlookers.
League nights - spectators over 18yrs are more than welcome and encouraged on our league nights - it's completely free. Spectators will be admitted on a first come first serve basis - we can only accept 15 spectators MAX on league nights. If spectators are keen to try out axe throwing, they are more than welcome to stick around after league competition is finished and give it a go (time permitting).

How long does the league go for?
League seasons last for 8 weeks (including 1 week for finals).
Do I need experience to join the league?
No, you may be a first-time axe thrower, experience is not necessary. Our axe throwing coaches are always available to provide training and assistance at all league nights.

Do you take 'walk-ins'?
Sydney/Melbourne: sessions need to be pre-booked online. If you happen to be in the neighbourhood with a group of friends, you can pop in and see if we have any availability. If we do, we can sign up your group for the next available time slot.

Why is the price higher on public holidays?
We are proud to pay our staff penalty rates for their work on a public holiday, however we do need to recover some of this cost - public holidays are subject to a 10% surcharge.
