FAQ

I’ve never thrown at MANIAX, an axe throwing league or thrown a big axe before?

All competitions are open to all skill levels. There is no need to qualify, good on you for giving it a go! Our tournaments are filled with experienced throwers willing to share their knowledge of throwing - not to mention our skilled staff who will ensure you are coached and briefed.  It'll be tough but a lot of fun, and you'll also learn a bunch in the process!

If you have never thrown big axes as a doubles team before, our tournament officials will help you safely navigate the skill before the competition.

How will the seeding work?

Seeding for tournaments will sort by match average across seeding matches. If averages are tied, matches won will break the tie and if needed a final throw off with a format determined by officials will be conducted.

How do I communicate my doubles team and doubles team name?

Once you buy your doubles ticket you will receive comms with next steps requesting team information if you have it.

Can I buy a doubles ticket without a partner

Absolutely, we will have a list of all solo registrations and aim to partner up solo from that ahead of the event and on the day as well.

Will I need to bring my own axe?

For tournament throwing, it is recommended however, if you get in touch beforehand, we will make sure you have a suitable axe to throw. Please note that for big axe doubles, competitors must bring their own axes.

Can we store axes at the venue?

Yes we have secure storage space for axes and you can leave them at the venue overnight during the weekend.

Does Northbridge have a kitchen?

It does not, but the legendary Club Social is back by popular demand catering both Saturday and Sunday lunches, pre-ordering will be made available online prior to the event with v,gf and other dietary options available by request. Throwers are welcome to bring light snacks and there are places for food within a 10min walk of the venue as well.

How much practice time will be allowed?

Practice for all tournaments will be open 30 mins prior to events starting. We ask respectfully that ghost clutches and bulls are used for warm ups to help preserve the boards for competition. If unsure we can show you what that means in venue.

Will there be ‘one for fun’?

There will be a one for fun throwing rule in place before every match. We love it, you love it, more fun for everyone! This does not affect the usual IATF practice throws prior to your first match and tiebreakers.
